The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ by Levi H. Dowling [1920]
According to Dowling, Jesus spent a lot of time in the mystical East where he learned esoteric methods from the masters, while rebelling against the caste system. The narrative, unfortunately, has numerous historical inconsistencies, including Jesus meeting historical figures who lived hundreds of years before or after the first century, e.g. Mencius. The book has Jesus studying in India in the Orissa area; while this is an historically important ceremonial area, it didn't come into prominence until nearly a millenium later. Any thoughts?

Divine Songs, by Isaac Watts
It is an awful and important charge that is committed to you. The wisdom and welfare of the succeeding generation are intrusted with you beforehand, and depend much on your conduct. The seeds of misery or happiness in this world, and that to come, are oftentimes sown very early, and therefore whatever may conduce to give the minds of children a relish for vertue and religion, ought in the first place to be proposed to you. The Legends of Saint Patrick, by Aubrey de Vere
The birth of St. Patrick, Apostle and Saint of Ireland, has been generally placed in the latter half of the fourth century; and he is said to have died at the age of a hundred and twenty. As he died in the year 493--and we may admit that he was then a very old man--if we may say that he reached the age of eighty-eight, we place his birth in the year 405... Any thoughts?

Overcoming Grief By Brian Jones
During my first year of college a life-long family friend and mentor tragically lost his son. Separated by distance, I assumed that his Christian friends, the staff at his church, and his Sunday school class would step in and wrap their arms around him and his wife. Needless to say I was surprised, ... Any thoughts?

Where Have All The Disciples Gone? By Brian Jones
Five years ago my family and I started a new church in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Leading A Growing Church By Brian Jones
Recently I spent the day reflecting on my fumbling attempts to lead our church in growth. While my initial list filled three pages, here are f... Any thoughts?

Your Pastor's Dirty Little Secret By Brian Jones
In the past 14 years I've rubbed shoulders with more ministers than I can remember. I've talked with ministers of large churches, small churches, and every size in between. I've hung out with black ministers, Hispanic ministers, Episcopal ministers, Republican ministers, and yes, to my shame, even m... Any thoughts?
