  • Miracles Made Possible by William Thomas Tucker
William Thomas Tucker, born and raised in Milwaukee, but currently living in a suburb of that city, has led an extraordinary life. It seems he has a unique faith and relationship with God in which he gets miracles on command. He gets these so-called ëmiraclesí not only for himself and family members, but for total strangers as well. This has been going on, unobtrusively, for 20 years. Bill, as he prefers to be called, has written a book entitled Miracles Made Possible, released by Hampton Roads Publishing Company of Charlottesville, VA June, 2004. The book purports to be a guide explaining how anybody can call specific miracles into their life, complete with deadline dates for these miracles to happen, and actually get those requests granted by God.
In his book, Bill takes the reader down the path of his discovery of God and the power of miracle-getting through a series of extraordinary events. As the story unfolds, Bill explores the reasons why these miracles occur, as well as why they donít, when they donít. ìNo, I havenít gotten all of my miracle requests,î Bill explains. This has been a groping, slow process. In the beginning, maybe because I was so desperate, a rash of miracles came all at once. But, after I got over my major tragedies, and started to get back on my feet, so to speak, I had more failures at getting miracles than successes.î
But, then, he goes on to explain in his book, as he probed the depths of these miraculous happenings for a deeper understanding, he was able to get them more and more consistently. ìI got to a point,î he said, ìwhere it was almost easier to get Godís miraculous intervention for strangers than it was for myself. Lest anyone misunderstand, I am not creating these miracles, I am merely invoking Godís power to bring healing to a particular problem,î he continues. ìWhen assisting others in their own ëmiracle-gettingí, that other person must really want the miracle and they have to participate in the process with an unusual depth of faith, which I help them discover within themselves. Thatís when I decided to write a book, to help all people find the inner
courage to believe to this extent.î
The story begins when Bill was but 13 years old, and experienced a tragedy that took the life of a small child. Questioning God as to the reality of the cruelty he was beginning to become aware of in the world, and not receiving an answer, Bill turned his back on God and chose to be an atheist. And, thatís how he lived his life for the next 29 years. He led a successful business life and contributed to his community by joining the Naval Reserve and being a volunteer for various youth groups, and he began raising a family. But, thatís when his own personal tragedies began at age 41.
Overnight, he lost his wife to death, his career, his personal fortune, his health, and teetered on the brink of losing his Navy career, his home, and his children to the State. Life didnít look worth living, so he contemplated taking his own life, if for no other reason than to at least leave his children the benefits of his life insurance policy. He began to make plans along those lines.
But, he was angry. Angry over losing ëthe game of lifeí. Angry at an unseen and, in Billís eyes, a cruel God, and he lashed out at God. As he railed against God, thatís when he started receiving miracles. Overnight, he went from a poverty-stricken, unemployed and unemployable single-parent suffering from a body rash that would not abate, to a healthy millionaire flying back and forth to California in private jets, and living in luxury hotels. He was able to save his home and his children, and found himself president of his own magazine publishing company in San Diego. Once again, overly confident in his own business prowess, he turned his back on God, and within a year, lost his newly found fortune and was plummeted back into the ranks of the unemployed and near poverty. He began to see the connection between his ìaccidentalî faith in God and His miracles, and the opposite that continued to bring unexplained tragedies into his life.As he explored the depths of faith, he began applying, what he calls, ìthe formula for getting miracles clearly spelled out in The Bible, and miraculous things happened,î he reports. At first, he used these newly discovered ëpowersí to get back on his financial feet by getting a job that he says he created in his mind. And, then as his daughter was unexplainably stricken with total paralysis, with no hope of a medical solution, he invoked the powers of God once again and she recovered virtually overnight in what her doctors could only call ìa miracleî.
Next, it was his father to whom he brought this deeper understanding of Godís miracle power. His father was dying of cancer. The doctors only gave him 3 weeks to live of an incurable strain. Bill to the rescue, and his fatherís cancer completely disappeared from his body,
and he lived an additional 7 years.
Since that time, Bill reports that he has helped cure the incurable from various illnesses a half-dozen times. Why not more times, heís been asked? Bill chuckles and explains with a question he then answers. ìWhy didnít Jesus, who performed miracles and promised that all men (and women) can perform miracles, cure everybody in his day and age? Because,î as Jesus himself explained, ìhe could only help heal those who wanted to be healed and came to him and asked for a miracle cure.î
ìI donít even have to be present,î Bill explained, ìto help someone. In fact, I donít even have to know them or their particular problem to be of assistance. All people can invoke these miracle-powers, just for the asking and believing. For example, I received an e-mail recently from an acquaintance inviting me to a fund raiser for her sister dying of incurable cancer. I accepted, but then I asked if her sister would like to be cured. When she replied, ëOf course!í I went on to explain how she could be cured, but only with the help of her own deep and abiding faith in Godís miracle powers. ìHer sister took me seriously -- as most people with a life-threatening illness usually do. Within a month, the cancer had completely disappeared from her sisterís body. Then she worried that all of their family and friends who had paid to attend the fund-raiser would think that she had perpetrated some sort of fraud. But, I quickly reassured her that those who know and love her would never question her sincerity, and would only rejoice in her ëgood fortuneí,î Bill said. Asked if he considers himself a ìfaith healerî, Bill is quick to declare he is not. ìThe issue I have with ëfaith healersí is that they often take a position of not only telling God who and what they want cured, but then they interfere with Godís miracle process by telling Him how to do it. In my view, that just doesnít fit with the way God works. When I ask God to cure somebody, I donít care how He does it. Sometimes the cure just happens out of thin air. But, at other times,î he explains, ìGod works through doctors, or herbalists, or in any manner of way. The key is to ëLet go, and Let Godí. Once a miracle has been requested, and believed in, then the faithful have to get out of Godís way and let him work it out His way.î When asked how he came to be a published author, a lifelong dream of his, Bill explains that he was aided in his depth of understanding the mind of God through a series of books published by another Milwaukeean, and world-famous publisher of a trilogy of books entitled Conversations With God, by Neale Donald Walsch, also published by Hampton Roads Publishing Company. Walschís, now more than a half-dozen books, have sold over 30 million copies in 47 countries. ìWalschís books brought to me a deeper explanation of how and why God acts as He does,î Bill explains. Quickly becoming a ëfaní, Bill wrote to Author Walsch, not realizing that Walsch receives upwards of 10,000 letters and e-mails a month, and employs a staff to sort through all of his mail. But, Billís letter caught someoneís eye at their foundation headquarters in Ashland, OR. and it was passed onto Walsch. Soon thereafter, Walsch contacted Bill and an immediate friendship of kindred souls was formed.
A year later, as Walsch was preparing his next book -- one on miraculous events in peopleís lives -- he culled out about 2 dozen from the many thousands of such letters he had received and asked Bill, as one of the selectees, if he could include one of Billís miracle stories in his book. Bill unhesitatingly agreed. A month later, as the manuscript was being completed, Walsch called Bill back and asked him for a second story for his soon-to-be-published book, Moments of Grace. Bill mildly protested saying that he wanted to save his stories for his own book that he intended to write someday. Walsch gently asked when that day was to come? Bill had no answer. Walsch suggested a trade-off. If Bill would agree to contribute one more miracle story to Walschís new book, Walsch would see to it that Billís book would be published, if Bill would get to the task of writing it. The bargain was struck, and Walschís book was published in August of 2001 containing 21 miracle stories, two of which are Billís. Now motivated to get on with sharing his unique insights, Bill pounded out his own manuscript of more than 200 pages in a week. Hampton Roads Publishing Company is proud to offer this unique book to the reading public. Managing editor of Hampton Roads, Rebecca Williamson says, ìWe here at Hampton Roads are extremely pleased that Mr. Tucker chose us to publish his book. We feel that this book will be every bit as successful as Mr. Walschís books have been -- all of which have made the New York Times Best Seller list. We believe that the messages Mr. Tucker shares about Godís love and powers and desire to help people in need will have a far-ranging impact on the lives of millions who seek this help and understanding. We wish him well in his effort to reach out to people of faith.î
