Is Fiji Water the purest water on earth? Is it the best bottled water on this planet? I do not know, but I sure drink a lot of it and I absolutely love its freshness and taste. “Fiji Water comes from an aquifer deep within the earth on the remote islands of Fiji. Bottled at the source, natural artesian pressure forces the water through a hermetically sealed delivery system free of human contact. It is never exposed to the environment. At least, until you unscrew the cap.” For more information about the Fiji Water please visit their web site - Fiji Water. Typical analysis in mg/liter: silica - 85, calcium - 17, magnesium - 13, bicarbonates - 140, ph - 7.5. So what do I think about Fiji Water. I’d say it is probably one of the best pure waters that you can drink. Unless of course you get youself an iceberg and melt it in your backyard.

The melted iceberg is likely to be more acidic and not as good for you!

I love Fiji water and get it whenever I’m out and need a drink.

Personally, I drink distilled water and take multi-mineral supplements in isotonic form.

See my web portal for examples of isotonic products under Health & Nutrition. The Isotonix product line does NOT need to be digested by the stomach and goes immediately into the small intestine for asborption into the blood stream. Our biggest seller is OPC-3, a very powerful antioxidant, and unless you live in a cave, you must have heard about the benefits of antioxidants, such as lowered blood pressure and cancer prevention among others.

I also like the alkaline taste of Fiji water.

    Dwight,

Why would the slight acidity (pH=6.4 -6.8) of ice melted water due to dissolved CO2 from the atmosphere be bad for you?

I said, “The melted iceberg is likely to be more acidic and not as good for you!” The statement was intended to be slightly sarcastic as well as have some truth to it.

A healthy pH level is about 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly alkaline. To maintain good health, it is desirable to consume about 60% alkaline food and 40% acidic food. To restore good health, a diet that is more alkaline (about 80%) is recommended.* Do you get enough alkaline foods in your diet? I ask myself that.

It may be healthier, then, to thrive on neutral or alkaline water rather than water that is acidic. It’s another source that can potentially impact your body’s pH balance. Distilled water should test neutral. Fiji water is more alkaline and, perhaps, healthier.

    * See: http://home.bluegrass.net/~jclark/alkaline_foods.htm for a general summary of pH balance and health, and for a detailed chart of acidic and alkaline foods.

The 7.35-7.45 pH levels refer to the acidity of your blood and not to the food or drink one consumes. Most of the fruits on that alkaline food list are actually acidic if you measure pH and that’s why they call them - “alkaline forming food” because it is not the pH of what you put in your mouth but how it affects the overall pH of your blood. Hence, the idea of drinking alkaline water to shift the pH balance of a blood is a bit of a stretch.
